LANGKAT, HALOSUMUT – The commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s food security program continued to gain momentum as Langkat Police Chief AKBP David Triyo Prasojo accompanied the Head of Community Development Corps (Kakorbinmas) of Baharkam Polri during a major corn harvest activity in Langkat Regency.
The event highlighted the strong collaboration between the Indonesian National Police, local government institutions, agricultural stakeholders, and community members in supporting the national food self-sufficiency agenda targeted for 2026. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to increase agricultural productivity while empowering local farmers and rural communities.
During the activity, officials reviewed the harvested corn fields and observed the results achieved through ongoing agricultural development programs. The harvest demonstrated how productive land management and cross-sector cooperation can contribute to improving food availability and strengthening regional economic resilience.
The presence of Kakorbinmas Baharkam Polri underscored the institution’s continued support for government efforts aimed at maintaining national food security. Similar corn cultivation and harvest programs have been implemented across several regions as part of a nationwide movement involving police institutions and local farming communities.
Kapolres Langkat AKBP David Triyo Prasojo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programs that benefit local communities, particularly initiatives designed to increase agricultural output and improve the welfare of farmers. The collaboration also reflects Polri’s broader role in assisting national development programs beyond its traditional security responsibilities.
The harvest activity was welcomed positively by local stakeholders, who viewed it as a practical step toward creating sustainable agricultural growth while encouraging greater participation from community members in productive farming activities.
Indonesia continues to prioritize food security as one of its strategic national objectives. Corn remains a key commodity due to its importance in both food consumption and livestock feed production.
Agricultural experts have emphasized that increasing corn productivity can help reduce dependence on imports while strengthening domestic supply chains. Programs involving government agencies, law enforcement institutions, and local farmers are expected to accelerate progress toward achieving self-sufficiency targets.
In recent years, the Indonesian National Police have actively participated in various community empowerment initiatives, including food security projects, agricultural assistance programs, and rural development activities.
Several regions across Indonesia have reported successful corn planting and harvesting programs supported by local police units. These initiatives aim not only to boost crop yields but also to create new economic opportunities for farming communities.
Looking Ahead to Indonesia’s Food Self-Sufficiency Vision
As Indonesia moves toward its 2026 food security goals, collaborative efforts between government institutions, local authorities, and farming communities will remain essential.
The corn harvest event in Langkat serves as another example of how coordinated action can contribute to national resilience. Through continued innovation, farmer support, and productive land utilization, stakeholders hope to strengthen Indonesia’s agricultural sector and ensure sustainable food availability for future generations.
