BOGOR, HALOSUMUT.COM – The volume of vehicles heading towards the Puncak area in Bogor Regency, West Java, experienced a significant surge during the long holiday of the Ascension Day of Jesus Christ. Based on data from the Bogor Resort Police (Polres Bogor), the number of vehicles increased by approximately 18 percent compared to normal days.
The Head of the Traffic Unit of Polres Bogor, AKP Rizky Guntama, stated that the increase in vehicle volume has been observed since Thursday morning. Most of the vehicles entering the Puncak area are private cars and motorcycles coming from the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region.
To anticipate severe traffic congestion, the Bogor Resort Police Traffic Unit has implemented several traffic engineering schemes. These include the implementation of the odd-even (ganjil-genap) rule and the one-way system, which is applied situationally depending on the density of vehicles on the main Puncak road.
Officers have been deployed at several congestion-prone points, such as the Gadog Intersection, Megamendung, and Pasar Atas Sarua. AKP Rizky also urged travelers to always check the condition of their vehicles and remain patient while following the directions of officers in the field to ensure safety and order during the holiday.
As the long weekend concludes, the Bogor Police are also preparing for the peak of the return flow (arus balik) which is predicted to occur on Sunday afternoon. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys early to avoid being trapped in long queues that typically stretch for kilometers during the transition back to the capital.
In addition to traffic management, local authorities are coordinating with health and emergency services to remain on standby along the Puncak route. This measure is taken to provide swift assistance in case of accidents or mechanical failures, ensuring that the holiday remains a safe experience for all visitors and residents in the Bogor area.
