LANGKAT, HALOSUMUT.COM – In a structured effort to implement the higher education tri-dharma through direct community empowerment, a dedicated group of students from the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU), including Suci Zuriati (NIM: 0603223179), has formally initiated their Real Work Lecture (Kuliah Kerja Nyata – KKN) program in Padang Tualang District, Langkat Regency.
The formal arrival and deployment of these academic youth were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by the local sub-district authorities, village heads, and prominent community figures. The presence of the university students is highly expected to bring a fresh, innovative perspective and provide tangible solutions to various socio-educational challenges faced by the grassroots population in the region.
Throughout the duration of the KKN program, the students are structurally scheduled to execute a diverse array of community-centric work programs. These multi-sectoral initiatives heavily focus on elevating public health literacy, reinforcing Islamic educational foundations for village children, optimizing the digital presence of local micro-enterprises, and conducting environmental sustainability campaigns.
The student representative, Suci Zuriati, stated that the entire team is fully committed to integrating themselves into the daily life of the Padang Tualang residents. By building a solid synergy with local youth organizations (Karang Taruna) and religious mothers’ groups (Majelis Taklim), the KKN participants aim to ensure that their programs leave a lasting, positive impact long after the academic assignment concludes.
“We are deeply grateful for the exceptional warmth and hospitality shown by the people of Padang Tualang. Our main objective is to utilize the academic knowledge we secured on campus to actively assist the village community in optimizing their local potentials and addressing immediate social needs,” Suci Zuriati explained firmly.
Local administrators have expressed their full structural support for the students’ work plans, urging the village residents to proactively assist and cooperate with the KKN team. This collaborative ecosystem is projected to serve as a vital momentum to accelerate rural community development and strengthen the bond between academic institutions and regional society in North Sumatra.
Langkat Regency, particularly the Padang Tualang sub-district, is a region immense in agricultural potential and rich in cultural heritage, predominantly influenced by Malay and Islamic traditions. However, like many peripheral districts in North Sumatra, local communities often face structural gaps in accessing modern digital literacy and advanced educational methodologies.
The deployment of UINSU KKN students to this specific area represents a highly strategic intervention, as these students can act as dynamic agents of change who bridge the gap between contemporary academic innovations and traditional rural practices.
Furthermore, the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) has systematically overhauled its KKN curriculum in recent years to emphasize measurable, data-driven community development. Instead of executing purely ceremonial tasks, students are now demanded to conduct rigorous social mapping before launching their programs.
In Padang Tualang, this methodology allows the student teams to effectively address critical local issues, such as strengthening sharia-compliant financial administration for small village enterprises (BUMDes) and integrating interactive digital tools into early-childhood Islamic religious education (TPQ), thereby directly supporting Langkat’s long-term regional development goals.
