BATU BARA, HALOSUMUT.COM – The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Cyber Media Network of Indonesia (Jaringan Media Siber Indonesia – JMSI) for North Sumatra, Drs. H. Rahudman Harahap, MM, firmly reminded all cyber media owners and journalists incorporated within JMSI to continuously uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity while executing their journalistic duties.
This crucial message was formally delivered by Rahudman during his attendance at the official inauguration of the Batu Bara Regency Branch Management (Pengcab) of JMSI, which was successfully held at the Auditorium of the Batu Bara Regent’s Official Residence on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
The strategic event was directly attended by the Regent of Batu Bara, Baharuddin Siagian, alongside the Vice Regent of Batu Bara, various ranks of the Batu Bara Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), representatives from SMSI Batu Bara, PPWI Batu Bara, the Batu Bara District Attorney’s Office, representatives from the Danramil 02/Air Putih, as well as JMSI administrators and members arriving from various regencies and cities across North Sumatra.
In his official opening remarks, Rahudman strongly asserted that professionalism serves as the fundamental foundation that every single member of the press must possess to properly execute social control functions and deliver accurate information to the general public.
According to the former Mayor of Medan for the 2010–2015 period, journalists are not only demanded to work in a highly professional manner but must also remain fully capable of guarding their integrity while systematically presenting well-balanced news coverage.
“Remember, there are four core pillars that must strictly serve as your guidelines in executing journalistic duties. First, maintain a highly professional attitude in carrying out tasks and presenting news. Second, deliver balanced reporting. Third, safeguard your integrity. And fourth, completely avoid justification or bias in your news products,” Rahudman stated firmly, accompanied by the Expert Council of JMSI North Sumatra, Zakaria Rambe.
Rahudman further explained that the consistent implementation of these four core principles is extremely vital to protect media credibility amid the heavy, rapid current of digital information expanding in the contemporary era.
According to his analysis, cyber media portals must remain capable of presenting information that is highly accurate, objective, and legally accountable, ensuring that public trust toward journalistic products remains securely preserved.
“If professionalism and integrity are continuously guarded, then public trust toward the media will undoubtedly grow much stronger,” he stated layout.
The official inauguration of the Batu Bara Regency Branch of JMSI stands as a highly strategic momentum to strengthen internal organizational consolidation, while simultaneously elevating the quality of local cyber media so they can actively provide a positive contribution toward regional development and community progress.
The institutional synchronization between the Batu Bara Regency Government and digital media networks like JMSI marks a progressive shift in the regional communication landscape.
Batu Bara Regency, under the leadership of Regent Baharuddin Siagian, is currently experiencing rapid industrial transformation, particularly with the strategic development of the Kuala Tanjung Port and surrounding special economic zones.
In this context of accelerated regional expansion, the local administration highly relies on responsible digital press corporations to act as an objective bridge of information, ensuring that public infrastructure policies are accurately communicated to the grassroots population without digital distortion.
Furthermore, the presence of Rahudman Harahap, a senior political figure in North Sumatra, underscores the growing organizational weight of JMSI in the province’s peripheral regencies.
As local media networks increasingly transition into digital-first content production, the challenges of combating misinformation and maintaining ethical journalistic standards have become paramount.
By establishing structural branch managements across regencies like Batu Bara, JMSI North Sumatra aims to implement comprehensive journalism training and media management programs, preparing local reporters to meet national press council accreditation benchmarks while actively boosting digital literacy within the regional workforce.
