TAPANULI UTARA, HALOSUMUT.COM – The military leadership in North Sumatra demonstrated high-level operational readiness as the Commander of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan (Pangdam I/BB) officially welcomed the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (Kasad) and the Chairperson of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana (KCK).
The high-profile military delegation arrived via Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport (formerly Silangit Airport) in Siborongborong, North Tapanuli Regency. This official welcoming ceremony marks the beginning of a strategic oversight and working visit by the army’s top command across several vital military jurisdictions in the province.
The arrival of Kasad and his entourage was met with a structured, traditional state greeting mixed with strict military protocols. Alongside Pangdam I/BB, the welcoming committee on the tarmac consisted of prominent regional leaders, including local regents from the Lake Toba region, high-ranking regional police (Polri) officials, and senior staff officers from Kodam I/Bukit Barisan.
The delegation was also presented with the traditional Ulos cloth, symbolizing deep respect, honor, and warm hospitality from the indigenous Batak community.
Military officials revealed that this working visit is specifically designed to inspect the operational readiness of territorial military units (Satker/Satwil) and evaluate ongoing community development programs led by the army in North Sumatra.
Concurrently, the Chairperson of Persit KCK is scheduled to lead separate institutional agendas, focusing on empowering health, education, and welfare management frameworks for the wives and families of active-duty soldiers stationed within the Bukit Barisan command sphere.
This high-level command visit brings a significant structural impact to both regional defense stability and local tourism security. From a defense standpoint, direct field oversight by Kasad acts as a massive morale booster for thousands of frontline soldiers serving in territorial defense posts.
It ensures that standard operating procedures, defense infrastructure upgrades, and border-zone monitoring operations are aligned perfectly with the central headquarters’ modern tactical directives.
Furthermore, from a socio-economic perspective, routing the military command’s arrival through Silangit International Airport heavily reinforces the government’s commitment to the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) initiative.
The high-profile visit showcases absolute geopolitical stability and security readiness to national and international observers. Proving that the military and regional police can guarantee flawless security coordination directly stimulates investor confidence and drives sustainable international eco-tourism growth across the Lake Toba highlands.
As an immediate solution to optimize the outcomes of this working visit, Kodam I/Bukit Barisan must focus heavily on strengthening its Binter (Territorial Border and Community Management) synergy.
Local military commands (Kodim and Korem) are urged to present comprehensive, transparent reports regarding active civil-military operations, particularly in accelerating rural infrastructure development and mitigating local natural disaster risks.
For a long-term solution, the integration of smart-defense technologies and digital public-reporting networks across North Sumatra should be continuously prioritized. Maintaining an open, institutional dialogue between the TNI, regional governments, and local indigenous community leaders ensures that potential social frictions are addressed proactively before they escalate.
By securing strong grassroots partnerships and maximizing defensive infrastructure efficiency, the military command can successfully maintain long-term territorial sovereignty and social harmony across all corners of North Sumatra.
