DELI SERDANG, HALOSUMUT.COM – The Women and Children Protection Unit (Unit PPA) of the Deli Serdang Polresta has officially arrested a middle-aged man following horrifying revelations of systemic sexual abuse against his 12-year-old biological daughter.
Local authorities confirmed that the suspect had subjected the underage victim to continuous sexual exploitation over a grueling five-month period inside their family residence.
The harrowing ordeal finally came to an end after the victim gathered the courage to report the recurring abuse, prompting an immediate tactical intervention by law enforcement officials.
According to the official police briefing, the suspect took advantage of quiet hours inside the home when other family members were away to intimidate and abuse the victim.
To prevent the minor from speaking out, the father routinely utilized severe verbal threats and psychological coercion, locking the victim into a cycle of fear and silence since late last year.
The case officially broke wide open when the victim, unable to bear the continuous trauma, confided in a trusted relative, who immediately filed an emergency report with the Deli Serdang Police
Following the formal complaint, investigators swiftly executed a targeted arrest operation, apprehending the suspect at his residence without resistance. The police have secured vital medical and forensic evidence (Visum et Repertum) alongside the victim’s clothes to build an audit-proof criminal case against the perpetrator.
This disturbing domestic crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting deep-seated vulnerabilities regarding child safety within domestic environments. From a legal standpoint, the suspect faces severe, non-negotiable charges under Indonesia’s strict Child Protection Law (UU Perlindungan Anak No. 35 Tahun 2014).
Because the perpetrator is the biological father—who holds a primary legal and moral obligation to protect the minor—prosecutors are expected to demand the maximum statutory penalty of 15 years imprisonment, augmented by an additional one-third increase in prison time as mandated by national law.
Beyond the immediate courtroom proceedings, the socio-psychological impact on the 12-year-old survivor remains highly critical. Severe cases of prolonged domestic abuse cause profound, long-term psychological trauma, including severe anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can completely derail a child’s educational development and social integration if left unaddressed by mental health professionals.
As an immediate solution to guarantee the victim’s recovery, the Deli Serdang Integrated Services Center for Empowering Women and Children (P2TP2A), in direct collaboration with local social workers, has deployed an aggressive trauma-healing protocol.
The survivor is currently placed in a highly secure, confidential shelter, receiving round-the-clock psychological counseling and social rehabilitation to rebuild her mental well-being while ensuring her access to formal education remains uninterrupted.
To prevent similar domestic horrors from staying hidden in the future, regional authorities strongly urge neighborhood networks (RT/RW) to significantly increase local alertness. Communities must abandon the outdated social stigma that treats domestic abuse as a private family matter (aib).
Citizens are highly encouraged to actively utilize the government’s official SAHABAT PEREMPUAN DAN ANAK (SAPA 129) national hotline or report suspicious domestic behaviors immediately to the nearest police sector.
Ensuring rapid, community-driven reporting remains the ultimate defense mechanism to dismantle domestic predators and safeguard vulnerable children across North Sumatra.
