LUBUK PAKAM, HALOSUMUT.COM – The Regional Government of Deli Serdang Regency, represented by the Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, dr. Hanip Fahri, MM, M.Ked (KJ), Sp.KJ, recently attended the Dialogue and Training for Halal Slaughtering and Processing of Halalan Thayyiban Food Ingredients.
This crucial event, aimed at supporting the Center for Food and Nutrition / Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program, was held on Saturday (16/5/2026) at the MUI Deli Serdang Hall in Lubuk Pakam.
The strategic event was also attended by key representatives from the Department of Village Community Empowerment (PMD) of Deli Serdang Regency, prominent religious figures, MUI officials, as well as participants from various local villages and related institutions.
This intensive training was intentionally organized to significantly elevate the community’s understanding regarding the proper procedures for halal slaughtering and standard Islamic food processing.
Furthermore, it aimed to ensure adherence to strict health and hygiene standards, which are fundamental in ensuring the absolute success of the government-backed Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.
In his official opening remarks, dr. Hanip Fahri strongly emphasized the immense importance of ensuring that any food served to the public must not only be highly nutritious but must strictly meet both halal and thayyib (wholesome/pure) quality benchmarks.
“The Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program must fundamentally deliver maximum and genuine benefits to the community. For this very reason, the core aspects of halal status, hygiene, and the overall quality of the food ingredients must become a mutual priority for all of us,” dr. Hanip Fahri stated firmly.
Beyond delivering comprehensive knowledge about the standard halal slaughtering process, the workshop also thoroughly addressed the parameters of hygienic, secure, and safe food processing practices that strictly align with the principles of halalan thayyiban.
The organizing committee highly anticipates that through this interactive dialogue and practical training, the community, alongside village-level food program managers, will become increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining food product quality and halal compliance, particularly in supporting government programs that directly address the essential needs of the grassroots population.
The Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is one of the national strategic priorities implemented across various regions in North Sumatra, including Deli Serdang Regency.
By involving the Village Community Empowerment Office (PMD) and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the local government seeks to build a robust downstream ecosystem where local farmers, livestock breeders, and village enterprises (BUMDes) can supply certified halal ingredients directly to regional school kitchens and community centers.
Deli Serdang, known for its vast demographic diversity and agricultural potential, serves as a critical pilot project for the integration of standard food hygiene and Islamic dietary compliance in North Sumatra.
The collaboration between healthcare experts, Islamic scholars, and local authorities in this training signals a progressive approach to addressing malnutrition while respecting the deeply rooted religious values of the local residents.
Moving forward, the government plans to hold similar workshops across all sub-districts to standardize halal culinary practices at the village level.
