KABANJAHE, HALOSUMUT.COM – In a proactive move to maintain absolute public order and security (Kamtibmas), the Karo Regional Police (Polres Karo) successfully executed a comprehensive security operation across multiple churches in Kabanjahe City on Sunday morning, June 14, 2026.
Commencing strictly at 08:30 WIB, the targeted deployment was engineered to ensure that weekly Christian worship services proceeded without any operational disruption, providing immediate peace of mind to thousands of local congregants.
The field operation was placed under the direct structural supervision of AKP Eriks R. Nainggolan, S.T., serving as the Duty Supervisory Officer (Pawas). He was accompanied by Control Officers (Padal) IPDA Sofian Damanik, S.H. and IPDA Berton Siregar, alongside dedicated personnel from the Internal Affairs Division (Sipropam) and various specialized functional units within Polres Karo.
Police personnel were strategically stationed at primary administrative and entry perimeters of high-capacity churches in Kabanjahe.
Their presence focused heavily on monitoring the immediate surroundings, identifying potential localized security vulnerabilities, and managing the high volume of vehicle traffic outside the venues to prevent severe gridlocks along vital public routes. AKP Eriks R. Nainggolan re-emphasized that this institutional presence is a routine, accountable implementation of the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to guarantee absolute religious freedom and social harmony.
This calculated security presence brings significant legal and social structural impacts to the Karo highland region. From a social standpoint, the visible placement of uniformed officers at worship centers successfully prevents potential horizontal frictions, petty theft, or malicious acts of vandalism.
By establishing a secure perimeter, the police force directly strengthens the psychological comfort of the community, allowing citizens to engage in their religious duties with absolute focus and tranquility.
From a regional tourism and economic perspective, Karo Regency acts as a primary weekend getaway destination for travelers coming from Medan and neighboring regencies.
Widespread traffic gridlocks outside urban churches can paralyze local transit networks, slowing down the distribution of local agricultural goods and frustrating tourists. By actively organizing traffic patterns outside Kabanjahe’s houses of worship, Polres Karo effectively keeps economic corridors flowing smoothly, protecting the local market’s productivity.
As an immediate solution to maintain this stable social environment, Polres Karo must continuously tighten its collaborative partnership with internal church youth security teams (Pamad) and local neighborhood watch networks.
Establishing a unified, rapid-response communication channel between church administrators and the police command center allows for the swift mitigation of minor logistics or security issues before they escalate.
For a long-term structural solution, the integration of smart policing technologies—such as utilizing high-definition municipal CCTV networks connected directly to the Karo Police command post—should be continuously expanded.
Combining these modern surveillance frameworks with routine, community-oriented policing ensures that the Tanah Karo region remains an absolute blueprint for inter-religious tolerance, high-yield public safety, and institutional accountability throughout North Sumatra.
