MEDAN, HALOSUMUT.COM – Demonstrating a strong commitment to grassroots social welfare, the Branch Executive Board of the Great Indonesia People’s Movement Force (DPC GRIB Jaya) in Medan, in close collaboration with the Petisah Sub-district Chapter (PAC GRIB Jaya Medan Petisah), has successfully executed their routine community assistance program. Friday (12/6/2026).
The civil organization mobilized its members to distribute hundreds of basic food and lunch packages under the banner of the “Jumat Berkah” (Friday Blessing) initiative. This coordinated social action targeted low-income families, trishaw drivers (tukang becak), and marginalized urban workers across the Medan Petisah jurisdiction.
The leadership of GRIB Jaya Medan explained that this philanthropic drive is part of a structured, ongoing commitment to directly engage with and support the local community.
The distribution process was managed systematically by field coordinators to ensure that the aid packages reached those genuinely in need without causing chaotic public queues or disrupting local traffic flow around major roads in Petisah.
During the event, representatives from both the DPC and PAC structures stood side-by-side on the ground, emphasizing that the funding for these hundreds of aid packages was raised entirely through internal corporate solidarity and voluntary contributions from organization members.
This grassroots operation serves as a strategic implementation of GRIB Jaya’s core institutional vision, which aims to shift the public perception of mass organizations (ormas) toward becoming constructive, welfare-oriented pillars of civil society.
This proactive social intervention brings a highly positive structural impact to the socio-economic dynamics of Medan. On a micro-level, the immediate distribution of daily food packages provides vital, temporary relief to underprivileged households dealing with modern inflationary pressures and volatile staple food costs.
It directly eases the daily living expenditures of casual workers, allowing them to redirect their small daily earnings toward other essential family needs like children’s education.
On a broader macro-level, consistent non-governmental social actions help maintain regional security and social stability. When mass organizations actively transform themselves into reliable support networks, they successfully foster a strong sense of communal solidarity.
This positive community engagement heavily reduces potential friction between youth factions and bridges the gap between different social layers in the city, establishing an atmosphere of mutual respect and public safety across the capital of North Sumatra.
As an immediate solution to expand the reach of these humanitarian efforts, GRIB Jaya Medan is encouraged to establish collaborative partnerships with local micro-businesses and neighborhood leaders (Kepling).
By utilizing verified neighborhood data, the organization can optimize its logistical mapping, ensuring that future weekly distributions safely target the most isolated and vulnerable households in the deep corners of the city.
For a long-term structural solution, GRIB Jaya should look beyond temporary food distribution and gradually introduce sustainable economic empowerment programs.
Partnering with regional training centers to provide vocational workshops, small-business coaching, and micro-capital access for local communities will yield permanent results.
By combining continuous spiritual initiatives like Jumat Berkah with proactive economic training, the organization can successfully help lift local families out of structural poverty, creating a resilient, self-sufficient, and harmonious society throughout Medan.
